Comrade Valter it is far from your position to question your supiriors, I am happy to accept a full investigation from Stavka, if you are willing to be sent to the penal battalion for your false malicious accusations.

Comrade Mladshiy serzhant, the serzhants had their orders but if they gave orders that were of a defeatist nature then we have a special department that deals with this type of thing but if the serzhant used his judgement under battle conditions then he has done his duty.

The field commander has to trust the judgement of his NCO's who are on the front line and who have to make judgements under battle conditions.

The enemy were defeated because the NCO's reacted fast enough to counter attack and destroy the enemy before they reached the C/P.

I would like to thank everyone who supported the 2nd Guards Rifle Division at this private battle.

I am pleased to report that the 2nd Guards fielded 18 unit members in defeating the fascists and with the help of the 146th who supported us. Many thanks to Lee and the 146th and Jim Mumford who supported us on the Saturday, we look forward to working together again.

Glory to the Red Army..........

Some lovely composed and framed pictures as always ,and a great chance to see how the different forms of clothing stand out or blend in with the undergrowth.

I love the one of Tank advancing.

Lovely pictures thanks Boss, the sunlight made it perfect for photography.

I was impressed with the effectiveness of the brown on brown (black on brown?) in Martins camouflages suit.It quiet surprised me as to how effective it is.
The Laura Ashley pattern seems to just melt into the background at times too!
If we can blend you into the background Tank then the suit is really earning its reputation for good cam !
We just have to camouflage the big grin as well!!

I have ordered an SCS8 from trident but am going to follow up with an order for a brown one like Martins.
I am not sure which one to go for though?
I prefer the smock and trousers because it can be split and is therefore more versatile; but are all the designs acceptable? :?:

All designs are Ok Bob.

Russian camo suits in two piece, like the ones we used at Ashby in a variety of patterns and colours depending on the season.
I too like Martins Autumn pattern suit in two tone brown.

They also issued a one piece early war but it was more of a large "lab coat" style in white for winter.

I don't know if Trident are still selling the one piece reversible brown and white Amoeba pattern suit,if they are then avoid it like the plague.

Take a lesson from someone who has been burned with this before.

I spoke to Bob on the phone last night regarding the camo suits offered by Trident and put him right.

They have several fantasy patterns on offer. So please check with the unit authenticity officers before making a purchase.

The dates that they give for the introduction of these items is also incorrect.

Cheers, Ade.

I think it would probably be a good idea to decide on a common pattern. All the photos I have show unmixed suits of a single design. I'm willing to be put right on this but it seems that everyone wore laura ashley or amoeba, not a mix of the two.

That Laura Ashley pattern is the most effective of all on the ground.
The pictures of you Andy and of Tank prove it.

But that black on green amoeba pattern you used at "East of England" (when you did the sniper in the tree) was excellent for broad-leaf trees and especially when the sun shone.

I like the Laura Ashley with the brown amoeba on it because it blends in with any brown leaf-mould on the ground.

The brown on brown is excellent (as can be seen on the pictures of Martin) when there is a higher percentage of brown about.

We must remember to cam up our hands and faces too or it will compromise the positive effects of the pattern.

Then there is movement to consider:
I watched a few people moving briskly whilst cammed to the hilt.
Its important to remember that the human eye is designed to react to movement!
Move slowly when you are able and only quickly when it is necessary.

While i think of it one of my pet hates is people who ,when on patrol and the groups comes to a halt, just remain standing up in a line.
It is far better when the guys in front come to a standstill to gently go down into a squat or kneel so that one minute you are up and moving ,then the next you just fade into the ground as if you were never there !

It should be instinctive that when you stop you fade into the undergrowth. Nobody can shoot you if they can`t see you.

It looks a darn sight more professional too when you comprae it with a section that just stops and stands there like a line of sitting ducks waiting to be mown down or picked off.

Just imagine what you look like through the eyes (and sights) of the fash?

The first things I emphasised to ant section I worked in was "Look outwards not inwards", "cover your arcs" and "when we stop....go down into cover".

Its the simple things that keep you alive !
 :?:

I've got some great pics of Ashby and Nelson but can't seem to manage to attach them here.

Am putting on a CD to send to Ray for the website.

It will be good to see them Paul.
We seem to have had an excellent variety from the two events.
It will be interesting to see what Belvoir yields too.
