2nd Guards Rifle Division

PROPOSAL - ASHBY PRIVATE BATTLE - MARCH 2008

This event is planned for March 2008 with more details to follow.

Would you let me know if you would be interested in attending this event as I am hoping it does not clash with Fort Nelson which is Easter weekend 22/23rd.

After Stalingrad the Red Army knew the Germans could be beaten but after Kursk, they knew they would win!

Please count me into the ORBAT Tovarich Kapitan.
I am anxious to put into practice what I learned at Mereworth.

out of interest: have you any idea yet of the scenario?

Me too, after everyone I spoke to enjoyed the Mereworth battle so much I regretted not going myself.

So one more frontovik to push back the pit vipers.

Just to keep everyone in the picture so far with this event.

The Ashby site was booked in error by myself and Paul Younger from "GD". Neither of us realised Easter was in March next year. This only came to light when we asked John to do the hire and fire. Naturally we have Ft. Nelson, a paying event for 2nd Guards that weekend, which we cannot miss doing for financial reasons. We are attempting to change the date to the weekend after Ft Nelson. We cannot have the weekend before as the US group "Thunder from Heaven" have the site booked for then.

Paul is having a hard time getting hold of the landowner. He has written him a letter, which, as of this last weekend, he has not received a reply to.

I will keep everyone posted here with news as and when I get it.

Cheers, Ade.

Hi Tank, it is held near Ashby de la Zouch. It is about 6 miles from mine and Lez's house

Last time group members stayed at our house on the Friday night, had breakfast and got to the site for 8am.

Cheers, Ade.
