Got it for Christmas, and just read it. If you are looking for a definative account on the capture of Berlin this is it. It is the most comprehensive, yet easily accesable book that has been published so far. It maps out the whole battle day by day from the assault from Seelow. It maps out positions of units on a street by street basis, and in great depth for both sides. Naming and giving strengths of obscure Hitleryouth and volksturm units. It marrys personal first hand accounts and biographies of commanders and men with historical documents, such as unit histories and indepth research. From the rivalry between Zukov and Koniev, To unit commanders accounts such as Krukenburg, commander of the Charlamaine and Nordland units, and his struggle to understand waht was going on. To individual tank crew infantry of both sides who's stries illustrate the roots of the epic struggle. The only critisism I have is the pictures have been poorly chosen and maps are done on a photographic overlay of the city, which I struggled with even with a good working knowledge of the battle This however is a must for anyone interested in this stage of the war. by Stephan Hamilton Heliron publishing isbn 978-1-906033-12-5
Love the picture not from the book, but nikked from another forum
