Update on my situation. I'm in negotiation with a new pet sitter at last, so all going well, my plan is to get on site Thursday evening and help out with any urgent jobs that need finishing before the big day. Also this break-through will, I hope, help me out to attend some more shows during the year :D

It shows my enthusiasm to destroy the enemies of Mother Ukraine (and Russia of course) :D

I'm actually more of a Mosin Nagant fan. But so long as it kills Facists it's ok

Just another reminder to everyone going down early to work on the trench. I've asked for wood to be left. This is not for burning. It's a bring your own situation.

I will be there Friday early evening due to my work committement. It's the first time in 18 years in re-enactment that I have not been able to get the day off for an event! I will have one large Russian tent with me as well as all the usual units kit.

We will be manning the trench system as well as our static living history display. The NCO's will be making sure that all areas are manned at all times and that the cook has all the help he needs.

I can bring a sledge hammer a folding saw & a variety of hand tools + nails & screws- I don't have a suitable rip-saw though, as mine has a plastic hand-grip- all the other tools will look, or be in period.

I'm planning on being there about lunchtime as well. Is there any point bringing modern hand tools (spade, bow-saw, etc) or is the rest of the preparation part of the event activities, and will someone bring a suitable axe for splitting firewood as some of the wood I have has been left in big chunks on purpose? I'll cut it up a bit more if not.

I will be there early Friday and will also bring tools, nails etc.

Modern hand tools will be ok for Friday but period ones only for work during the weekend.

I will be bringing several axes so chopping firewood will not be a problem.

I have a wartime saw which I will bring but be very careful when using please as it is effing sharp, despite its old age.

See you all Friday.

Well done comrades I am relying on you all, especially the NCO's to organise the trench and the digging. I will have a couple of entrenching tools and a authentic shovel as we can continue working on the trench over the weekend.

The job of the NCO's is to work closely with the Starshina and Starshiy Serzhant in keeping everyone busy in the trench as well as keeping our static display supplied with troops to man the position and make sure that the cook has all the help he needs. I am planing to have the recriutment stand in operation as our trench display may entice people to join the unit.

Pending numbers we will work in sections which the Starshina will organise. You will stay in your section for the duration of the event and under the command of a Serzhant.

This is our first event at the 'Bunker Bash' so lets show them how good the 2nd Guards Rifle Division are!

Does anyone have any reasonably heavy duty planks?

Bring some if you can- they will be useful for firing loops.

I can't wait for this one, I'll be there on friday as early as possible.

I can can provide a trowel and a pointing trowel if you need any bricks layed

I have a club hammer which is used to hit a bolster to cut bricks. However this tool looks old and Soviet-era like, more like a German stick grenade with a hammer on the end instead of the explosive device :)
Perhaps we could use it?
