I'm on site Saturday to mark out the trench. I have some plans drawn up by Walter and Andy, If anyone has any suggestions or would like anything added drop me a pm and I'll see what I can do.

Can they dig a bay off the trench to dress as an aid station?

Martin I hope you are not going to spoil my nice sketches by adding some dirty great bunker on to our trench.

Yes all you have to do to balance the flow of 'chi' through your revetments is to encourage earth and nature forces by using pot-plants and unbleached linen throws over the fire-step. Also remember that using pale pastels can give the illusion of light and space to even the dankest funk-hole.

Could you make an area for the unit radio and command post? I plan to have the telephones connected to the front line trench.

Just got back from the site. Range of things to report.
Firstly due to various reasons weather Group break up and digger related. We've been offered an existing trench. This is not to our specs, but is already shored up and in pretty good nick and with a small amount of work can be sovietised. It consists of a straight section of about 18m with hmg pit at one end a lmg pit at the other and a large cutaway in the centre. I've added from the middle of the existing trench an entrance exit trench with a dog leg. off from the dog leg a bunker for Huws medical etc. From the end of the existing trench (HMG position) I've added a trench again going back with a small bunker for Command and coms. These hopefully will be dug by the digger in 2 weeks time. I've also asked for wood to be provided. After that it would be good to get a working party together so we can work on the newly dug sections. Anyone interested contact me and we'll arange a mutually agreeable date.

Good comrade Starshiy Serzhant I agree that we need some imput on our trench. I suggest firing points at the front of the trench, plus a communications & command point, a medical and a rear area.
Let me know what you think.

An antitank positon would be quite appropriate- especially if it is in a flanking postion & you camoflage it well. It would also be nice to have a maxim or mortar position (this would be in a seperate side -trench, probably)- We should tru & get our Irish comraddes to support the event & bring their mortar maybe?

I have also made a firing loop frame to bring to the event & build inot the trench:

Anyone else interested inmaking one?

Comrade Starshiy Serzhant perhaps you should contact him to see what's going on as time is running out.
Firing points would be appropriate. Digging should continue throughout the weekend if need be until we get our trench as we want it, plus it looks good from the publics point of view.

Comrade Kapitain, from my last post it is clear the hold up is getting the digger onto site. He said 2 weeks, 4 weeks ago that's why I emailed him. Anyway no reason to panic there is a trench already in place, which is shored. He will contact me as soon as the trench is dug, which means I can organise a few people prior to the event to go down and work on it. I just hope the stakes are still there and the map I sketched on an old envelope has not been lost. The site is open a full week prior to the event opening and Andy and Walter have expressed an interest in coming down a day early to do a bit of work, and Sandra and NIck have both offered their services.

I plan to be there as early as I can on the Friday so that our trench is ready as it can be for the weekend. It would be good if other unit members could make the effort and turn up on the Friday to give us a hand.

Ian's just phoned me. The trench has been dug so we are on to do a bit of work. However I am not free over the next three weekends. Which leaves the weekend after Fort Nelson. That's May 22nd 23rd if you can make either of these days give me a pm and we'll arrange a day of digging and shoreing, to get the trench up to spec for the show
