1st Guards Rifle Regiment - 2nd Guards Rifle Division

The Russians are planning to bring 15 - 20 members and some Finnish re-enactors who will have there display near us in the "War walk" area.
We will make them welcome even though their static displays will be seperate from our display.

I have planned for the 2nd Guards to have a 2nd area for a living history display. The awning with tables and radio and paperwork for our communication/enemy interigation area where a prisoner interagation scenario is planned. This is in place of huw's medical display.
All the best..............Roman

Detling Front, loose tongues...Gitlerite misfortune

Postby People's Army on Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:22 pm

Comrades,
Due to the mess the Fash are dealing with it at this time due to Reactionary Elements within them... It might be an idea to Guard one's tongue, as there maybe attempts of Imperialistic Provocation against the defenders of Mother Russia and what we think of the Pit Vipering Hordes intent on Wrecking a Wonderland they can only dream of....

We HET! need to Smash them, they are doing it to themselves..

2nd Guards Rifle Division

Privet all, the new web site is up and running albeit with five pages. There is a Supplements page on the Home page, the RED STAR under the Links button. Click on this and all the details about Military Odyssey are there.
This will be the Supplement Page before each event so if you want to know details of an event then this is the page.

Postby Playfordball on Thu Aug 23, 2007 1:23 am

Hi tank, ditto that last remark about the picture (how do you get your atavar that big? Just one question .... Did all T-34/75's come modified with a statue of Catherine the Great welded to the left front mudguards?

got back yesterday from detling as i only went for one day :( .

when i arrived there were one or two very ill looking comrades ,one of which presented a large amount of vodka and beer to the floor in a very long yawn
things seem to be going well , first day battle was a confused mess , but i dont think the public noticed .

picked up two repro gyms in human size for £20 each ( passed the frazor test :D ) from a polish dealer , i hope ray got his details as he could be a good supplier .
may have picked up a few new members as well , and it was only day one
sorry to see you were not there kai , you were missed , i hope to see you at victory show .
cant wait to see the reports when the others get back on monday :D

Ace event!

Just a quick note to say what a great time I had at Detling. Sorry to come back early : I have been moving sideboards and freezers thinking"It 1145, they will be mounting up on the half-track now.....! :(

Managed to discover , during saturdays battle , the dangers of diving to ground with a wallet in your breast pocket: result- a bruised rib! that must be a first ;and of course drinking with the Poles ! Glad you managed to get home too Andy !! Which one of us led who astray there ? !!

I would like to say a heartfelt "thank you" to Bair for his friendship and for patiently filling in my Identity Book for me.
It was great to meet the guys rom over the sea and I am looking forward to the St Petersburg trip next year.

Good grief, back in Middlesbrough on the day same I left Detling! Pity to miss the closing parade, but them's the breaks...
Still buzzing from the cavalry charge! Sadly, Maddie, my mare, had already been out with the Napoleonics before I got up to bat, so was significantly slower than the other two. The weight differential has nothing to do with it, be sure of that
Great to see so many Guards out on the day, putting up a solid defence against the fash, also pleasing to see the prisoner exchange with Das Reich going so well on Saturday and Sunday.
Probably my favourite weekend in reenactment so far. It's going to be a hard one to beat.

Comrades!

Where did the 2nd get to in the parade?

We (naturally) assumed that the officers and NCO's had been recalled to Moscow and everyone else was clearing mines after your three successive days of defeats by the fascists!

I watched the battle today and I like the way the captured Stug went round the block once more whilst the fascist rocket crew tried to work out why their inferior oppressive rocket complex had malfunctioned

Excellent event, had a cracking time.
Got a few comments from other re-enactors that the battles looked good. Well done and thanks Martin!
Thanks to Nick for bringing the projector etc. and to Bair for translating the Russian films.

Another very enjoyable Detling has passed and am knackered and ready for bed.

I know we picked up at least three new members and two of those we tempted away from the dark side-GD that is.

I'd like to thank our Russian friends for coming all this way and hope they will manage to get all their shopping home ok.

Thanks to the members of Suvorov section leading from the front in the battles what a quality group they are.

I am thinking of supplying a selection of false moustaches for all the non slug balancers in the unit as we performed very well when our new comrades from up north were in the action and the moustache ratio was increased. That goes for the ladies as well.

can't wait for Victory Show.

Great event guys!

A big thank you to you all.

Still very tired after getting home from the show last night at 5pm. Then I had phone calls all evening.

I am now really busy organising "The Victory Show"

Cheers, Ade.

Well done Ade

Postby Bobhr on Wed Aug 29, 2007 7:25 pm

We all really appreciate the effort you put in Ade.
I suppose it often goes un-noticed ,but without you picking up the baton straight after or even before the preceding event. We couldn`t enjoy our regular deployments.

Lez and her dedication to our tums is another special feature of the group which we take for granted until we see somebody with stacks of equipment like SBG , but no chef !

Its corny I know and I will get flack for it but thanks for doing all the running about that we need to make this all flow so smoothly (this sounds like an Oscar Ceremony!!) ; when we add Paul ( I sent the cheque on tuesday I promise) ,Ray (right venue wrong planet) Lez (eat or I kill your family) ,Ade (just tell me if you are coming to this event ?!!) and Bair (come and enjoy my coach) to the equation , you see just what a team we have silently beavering away to enable us to have fun.

One thing I would say to all is that if you put your name down to attend an event PLEASE PLEASE don`t leave Ade and Lez guessing as to whether or not you are actually going to go !

They have to buy the food afew days before the event to cater for all. Its a genuinly difficult task; then they recoupe the money when members arrive.
On the latest outing some people who said they were coming didn`t so the food was bought ( ie MONEY SPENT) and NOBODY PAID IT BACK !

This is so easy to get right and only takes and email, PM or `phone call.

Please think of Ade and Lez trying to guess what you will do prior to an event?
Make their life easier if you cannot attend (despite saying you will) by taking time to tell them of the change.

They have a right to enjoy the unit trips too and worrying about money nd food is not a good way for them to spend their time.

I hope I am not out of line in saying that but I have seen several times the genuine stres it puts on Ade and Lez.

Soooo where were you all then?

This isn't a "fascist style" wall of silence is it? Don't tell me Panorama have been after you too?
