home safe and happy I attended.

Postby Bobhr on Sun Jun 03, 2007 9:57 pm

Hi all, I just wanted to say what an ace weekend it has been and how I enjoyed the company of all the people I met who had not been at Belvoir.
I am sunburnt and sandy and ache all over but am happy that I learnt more and met new people.
I have been given the job of writing the report to go in KZ, so I shall crack on with that tomorrow. I shall try to mention everyone.
Thanks again for a lovely time.

a good weekend , shame it seems to have been advertised poorly , and there were very few signs to show where the event was , so a low public turnout .
i will say the site has potential , but only if advertised properly .

good food and free beer ( thanks to barry the man with energizer batterys , and who never sleeps  ) and as per norm , excellent food cooked by les ( and martin on sunday morning , les doesn`t do sunday mornings :D )

free entertainment was provided by the mini fash bash , but more on that in the news letter , i hope , which caused great amounts of laughter for all ........ except les  .

a fairly good turnout by the unit with 13 members making the long trip to this event 8) , thanks to all for your efforts .

"Mini Fash fighting" was the funiest thing I had seen in years!

I really enjoyed the event. Like Colin said with the right advertising it had potential.

Cheers, Ade.

I agree, what a great weekend we had.I am still tired from the digging.
We had a good spot by the entrance too ,nice and shaded.

The singing Saturday night was good fun, thanks to Nigel for the translations of the songs and thanks to Paul and Phil for the international element by throwing in French as well.

I've never heard old Macdonalds farm sung quite like that before.

I too think this could be a really good show in the future with the right advertising and we are in on the ground level can grow with it,or should that be below ground level.

anyway sleepy now

Hope the house move went well Stef.
Just think of our Heast of Hingland trip as a Recce?
You could be there next year.
It was ace and unique.
I would like to learn Russian with Nigel and dancing with Paul !
PS:
I ordered a six-string bally today and hopefully will learn how to make it sing.
All the best,Bob.,

Emma and I loved the weekend too! It was fantastic, thank God we had that bit of shade! The set up looked superb and the company was excellent!

I have just downloaded 140 pics from my camera and there are one or 2 crackers including Ade sewing and Nick sleeping - both very authentic looking. I will put them on a disc for the website.

Thanks to all of you for making it a great weekend!

just thinking about this show and what a great time we had.
So I thought I'd post again just to bring it back to the top in case we all forgot it too soon.

You are so right, comrade Bigbad!

Emma and I loved this event - it was a long way to travel, but worth every mile!

We can't do Colchester as wife/mum is away that weekend, so Em and I will get a takeaway, begin wire wooling her Mosin woodwork and watch 'The Star' as recommended in the last newsletter.

have fun!

Ah Pavel

The times Andrei and I have had between events polishing the woodwork or stripping and cleaning kit together.

The benefits of reenacting are more than just dressing up at weekends. The dad and lad/lass bonding has to be experienced to be appreciated.

see you next time and look forward to more comradel singing

That warm feeling..

Postby Comrade Coffin on Fri Jun 15, 2007 10:21 pm

I must jump on this bandwagon & say how much Tara & I get out of it as well- the social aspect, the history, the uniforms, the food, the piss-taking
- it all adds up to a unique combination.
“Freedom” is a grand word, but under the banner of freedom for industry the most predatory wars were waged, under the banner of freedom of labour, the working people were robbed.

Yes indeed, I'd done re-enacting for years alone but taking Emma along has added a whole new dimension! Can't wait to get buffing that Mosin system this afternoon!

I have some excellent shots of you sleeping Comrade Coffin- they look really authentic! Sure Tara will be amused!
