Just like to say a big 'good luck to all (?) of Second Guards who will be turning out at Thetford this weekend. I'm flying the Guards banner (obviously, not literally) for Second at the event at Duncannon along with 49th. Hope you have a great time and dig plenty of holes. No excuse not to now the new Osprey book is out!

just got the "soviet infantry tactics in ww2" book from nafziger and it's got loads of plans and diagrams for different positions including one for a zis :wink: do you reckon the museum would notice if we buried their gun :D

Hi Guys, don't forget this is a May 1944 scenario, so Obr43 pattern Gyms :D

Please bring all you field kit, steel helmet, etc. The Museum are fine with us doing a trench and we can borrow the ZIS too.

As usual we will not be cooking on Friday night. I am picking Barry up from the station early Friday evening, so I may incorporate a chip shop run.

Saturday evening the Museum are doing a BBQ for us, so Lez will not be cooking tea. The bar will offer reasonable price drinks. If you wish to bring smart kit (ie. mudless shari's and gym) for the evening as there is a '40 dance.

Hi Andy, the dance is open to the public. SBG will be there, not sure about other groups, but I think the "Tramps" will be there given it is their base.

The "Tramps in Armour" were at Belvoir Castle last year with the Comet tank and Bren carrier. Phil is a member of that group.

By the way, I bought a balalaika on ebay. I am hoping to win hearts and minds with it !!

It has an effective range of about 4 ft is used in hand to hand combat !

Do they come with a sling and has anyone seen a cleaning kit ?

I have never been to a dance like it so I will learn something! :oops:
