Who do you guys recommend as vendors of appropriate boots? Who or what should I avoid?

Da! Comrade, Don't use DDR Boots, they may be of a Progressive nature but not even 1% Correct for a Red Army Scale of Issue.

Royal Navy deck boots with black or khaki canvas putties 'obmotki' will suffice - must not have a toecap on them.
