Good afternoon all! My name is Ben and i am a student at the University of Worcester in the UK. I am making a 20 minute film set on the backdrop of the Red Army's push towards Germany in 44/45. Theres a couple of things i need. Firstly, i want to be as accurate as possible and not misrepresent the Red Army in army in anyway and i will need to some extras to form part of an Army squad. I will also need uniform and equipment for three actors. Im looking to film in April. It will be over 2 days and i can provide transport and food and a place to stay for anyone keen to help. Thanks in advance Ben

Hi again, no Shabby its far from a wind up. I myself am not involved in reenactment but i am a big fan and think that reenactors can bring a lot to the table as far as film goes. The story is about a recently promoted Russian Sergeant who has been put it in charge of a new group of eager younger soldiers. The sergeant is war weary and reluctant. He's seen terrible things and has made it habit to not get to know newcomers, but now he has to. It's set in a non-exact time during the Russian advance into Germany after the victory at Stalingrad. The set is a farm with an old barn. The Russians capture some Germans and one young German notices an old violin in the rubble of this small town and pleads with the russians to let him play it in exchange for his life. One of the new young soldiers called Sacha tells him he can play but that the second he stops he will be killed. It's loosely based on a story mentiond in Anthony Beevors 'Berlin-The Downfall' and i've elaborated and adapted it. So the rest of the story is about how the sergeant tries to convince the private not to kill the german. I've had a lot of praise for the script, which i can make available to anyone privately. I am really keen to get some reenactors on board for as i said, realism, instruction, extras and 3 spare uniforms.
If anyone can help in any way, please let me know. Look forward to discussing it further.
Ben

Hi Ben, thanks for the info and the PM too which you sent me. We have our unit AGM on Saturday. I will raise the issue there and see if there is any interest from members.
Good luck with this project!

Hi Andrei, no actual speaking roles at the moment, but the extras will be on camera quite a lot of the time. I have sent a script that i believe will be made available at your AGM so hopefully a few people will be keen to be involved. Thanks again for your interest Ben
