I am now the proud owner of a Toz 78-06, manufactured by the Tula arms factory. It is a very tidy gun, & of typically basic & sturdy design. One noticeable feature is the Nagant-style trigger guard & magazine. It looks fairly similar to the one illustrated in the Partisan’s Manual, but it has obviously been updated. One thing that did surprise me was the presence of a ‘safety’.

I was busy sorting the scope for it last night- I shall either take some photos tonight, or when I go down the range on Sunday (or both). Here is a quick snap- I'll take some action shots on Sunday:

A nice looking rifle. When did it come into service?

That is a very nice piece of kit there Nick. You know when a rifle is well designed and made it just looks right and that one looks a beauty.
I bet you go to sleep at night with a big grin on your face.
Well done mate.

It is a modern sporting rifle- but Tula have a long history of manufacturing bolt-action & semi auto small caliber rifles- they have been making them for 80 - 90 years. That's why they are so damn good. I took it up the range today & even using bog-standard Remington 22 LR ammo. I was getting groups that could be covered by a 50p piece at 50m & a 10p piece at 25m.

Blimey, nice groupings comrade I once managed to get a grouping like that with a L98A1 GP rifle (a rifle we used in the Army Cadets). must admit it was luck, bad weather and strong winds (but then again the wind doesn't effect a bullet at 100 m)
