For Detling this year I hope to present you all with a little bangs & smells demonstration after the public have gone home on Saturday evening. A little controlled firework display of basic items that may have been employed by partisans and the like. For legal reasons I shall only be able to show how they work & not give detailed instructions on how to make them, but I shall hope to give an amusing, safe and legal 'show & tell' covering the following:
Home-made dry fuses
Home made blasting caps- electrical & thermal
The thermite reaction
Gunpowder trails
Wet chemical fuses (the one that didnt work in the aeroplane assasination attempt on Adolph)
There will be no big bangs (sefety reasons) but a few small ones are guaranteed.
Most of you are probably aware that I hold an explosive lisence & recipient competent authority approval from the HSE & all the above are ,where legislatively required, covered by my lisence. I will require a volunteer & some safety equipment (fire extinguisher & fire blanket). Other safety gear (goggles, gloves etc) I shall provide myself. I will have a wip-'round for voluntary contributions to cover my costs.

I just want a volunteer as an extra pair of eyes from a safwty perspective & to pass things to me- I will work within a cordoned-off area & i need them to passs things from a metal box that will be just outside.

I'm assuming that the Eastern Front battle will be happening sometime during the morning as per 2 years ago when we last attended Detling. Is this correct?

I have decided that 2 helpers are required. Their new unit designation is that of Straffvikki. These 2 unfortunate- er - um- I mean LUCKY individuals will help me out on this Saturday evening bit of fun- subject I must add- to the successful testing that will be carried out in my back garden next week-end. If the products fail, or I deem them unsafe (or I blow myself to bits), I will be forced to reluctanlty (but sensibly) abandon the excercise.
