Site showing pics (over 800 to be added), mostly German and GI local units (Oregon & Washington). Hope to get some RKKA pics soon. Just got back from a California Ostfront event. Brutal- temperature was 112-114° F.

Doesn't look particularly brutal it actually looks quite agreeable.

shabby: "Doesn't look particularly brutal it actually looks quite agreeable."

I should have stated that the picture link was not the California event.

Here's some vehicles from the California event:

Wait a minute! That doesn't look particularly brutal either, some of those buildings have flush plumbing.

It's the same one seen from two different angles. Typical bloody 'Red' trick, Spielberg does it all the time.

shabby, you ol' curmudgeon. They are two different vehicles. If you look carefully at the front, you can see the handles on top are different sizes. They were made by the same individual. I believe he built them on modified Jeep chassis. He made the metal plates and did the welding himself. Did a nice job. They put a DP28 that is propane blank firing in the turret.

Sasha- A front view of the German truck (auch Motorräder u. Jeep) has been added to: http://wardepartment.prophpbb.com/topic292.html

Typical, Spielberg changes the handles and you colonials are completely taken in! Next thing you know 'bingo'! Oprah Winfrey's got ANOTHER Oscar and I have to sit through another three hours of Tom Sizemore looking too fat to wear a tankers' jacket.

Those Russian re-enactors in the US look far too clean.

They should come over here to an event.

2 days in the field with us will have them looking far more authentic.

Comrades,
They are Conforming to their Norm, New looking Uniforms, wearing their Water Bottles round the Front of their Equipment and lots of Rexim Pouches, their Methods look as Ours do to our Russian Comrades, as theirs do to the Heroes who threw back the Giterite Horde in 41 to 45.

We are all in danger of a visit by the Special Department for incorrect Scales of issue and deployment of said Issue.

Urrah!.

Comrades!

The armored cars belong to California's 150th Rifle Division. They are built from scratch on jeep CJ5 chassis. I believe there are two different models portrayed by the two BAs in the photos: BA64 and BA64b, so there are more differences than just one handle. See if you can count them...

The "clean" Frontoviks behind the BA in the first photo are some of my 49th Guards. Uniforms never get washed... Its just that we do not often get a chance to slog around in the mud, even in winter. There are occasional exceptions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV4dQCC9 ... re=related

When there is bad weather, the GIs call it quits first, followed by the Germans, while the Russians frolic in the mud/snow/hail rejoicing in weather that reminds them of home...

We have recently acquired a new weapon with which to slay the Nemetski hordes:
