Operation Spark 2008

Postby Bair on Tue Jun 19, 2007 9:51 am

Comrades,

I will be putting the program of the trip on Bair Travels webpage during the next couple of weeks.

As there were comments about too tight schedule, there is a proposal to make the trip 1 day longer, i. e. depart from Helsinki Wednesday - return to Helsinki Sunday, or depart Helsinki Thursday - return Monday.

As daylight is short in January, we will take care of sightseeing in the morning, shopping, partying and so on - in the afternoon.

The event is planned to be in Nikolskoe again, but there might be changes.

Red Army greetings,

Bair

I'm offline as of now, as I'll be in Leningrad from tomorrow until the 29th. When I get back, I'll set to with the organisation for the Victory Day event.

Here is a link to some photos of this year's event:

(Thank you for these, Comrade Psjennikov). More photos will be available over the course of time, hopefully ones showing the mad overpowered ground charges that were fired at the start of the battle.

It's good to see the 2nd guards represented on Russian TV in style.

Seeing the film of the battle brought it all flooding back. The cold, the snow and the Kasha.

Well done to everyone who went.

2nd Guards Rifle Division

I have seen some of the pictures posted and like bigbad it bought back memories of the cold and hunger which was compensated with the our glorious victory!
Well done to all our comrades who took part in the battle, we salute you.

2nd Guards Rifle Division

It's a pity that the unit trip to Finland/Russia is cancelled but we all have to agree that the global financial climate and especially in the UK and has had an impact, hopefully next year things will be better.
