Yes, there is a small group that reenacts Red Militia, Andrey Afanasiev, the guy with mustache who was in Detling last year is one of them.

Were the militsia merged with the Opolchenye Workers battalions or did they fight as Militsia units?

Looks fantastic, especially the huge group of Red Infantry in Obr36 helmets and early war kit. Amazing how different the battlefield looks in summertime as well.
Good to see some familiar faces amongst the pictures too.

As far as I know, the Militia were either incorporated into Home Guard or stayed in militia.

Of course you can see some mistakes in the gear on the field - Kuebelwagen is in 1943 color scheme, Red Army carries PPSh41s that were only just entering service. Otherwise everything was great, they even bothered to paint modern Russian aircraft into German Luftwaffe colours!

Female sniper with SVT40 is wife of Viktor Sobolev, commander of battle engineer of Red Army unit.

I'm sorry I took my time to look through these properly, some great pictures of the unit line up.

And where did they get that truck??It looks like a garden shed for a cab but it looks fantastic.

I agree with you too James that SVT sniper does look lush.

After Stalingrad the Red Army knew the Germans could be beaten but after Kursk, they knew they would win!
