This is an interesting site sent to me a Russian collector which shows an example of the second pattern of mount. http://rkka.by.ru/weapon/pulemet/sg43.htmlHe is doing some research on these and believes that they are of war-time manufacture and could also be used with a different top for Maxim Guns. If there is a page on this site covering Maxims guns I would appreciate a link.

where the hell did you manage to get the tripod for your SG43 i cant find anything like that for mine i would be happy if i could find a bipod if you come across anything please let me know

Does anyone have an SG43 manufactured by the Zlatoust factory rather than Korov.
The Korov mark is bullet shaped with an arrow in the middle. What the other mark looks like is what I am trying to find.
I am still looking for a good war-time dated SG43 if anyone sees one for sale.

The ones recently imported into the states are the Polish version which did not get the post war changes. They still have the rear charging handle, unfluted barrel and WWII ground mount, so are perfect for reenacting WWII through Vietnam and beyond. I believe they also aquired them from a different source.
The last time I spoke to Rytons no SG43's have currently been offered on the tender list. They have more Maxims coming in and another 700 Thompsons which I understand they had to take a part of the wider deal.
Many of these get broken down for spare parts to send to the states. The complete guns cannot be imported.

There was a nice SG43 for sale at Detling for if I remember correctly £650.00.
I was tempted but at some stage a lot are going to come out of the Ukraine or other Eastern Block Country for a lot less money.

I suspect the one for sale at Detling might have sold? I saw the same dealer at the Victory show last weekend and he did not have it with him. But all the other stuff seemed to be there, ie. the post war version, the PTRS, RPG, etc.

We seem to be lucky here in the states regarding SG43s. They are available in semi-automatic live fire versions in WWII configuration built on Polish parts kits. The Poles evidently copied the WWII gun and did not make the Russian post war modifications so the Polish guns are set up the same as the Russian WWII guns. Here is my 1958 built gun:    tim

What receiver markings do the Polish guns carry?
At some stage providing the Ukraine continue's releasing guns the market will be flooded with SG43's the same as Maxims.
