Just tried on my sov naval trousers and they fit, which is a result, now just need the jumper etc.

But I was thinking, has anyone noticed the pocket for the ID book on the right 'flap' inside?

No they are the 70's/80's style.

Somewhere I have a pic of my Red Fleet hats showing the differences...

Hmmm the pogoni is questionable... depends what kind of naval look you want...

The belts Trident have are the 80's "wooden" belts with postwar buckles.

If you want a belt, you need a earlier postwar belt, which is black leather and the wartime pattern buckle, which is quite different to a postwar one.

What rank system did the naval infantry use was it the same as the army or was it more of a naval system (whatever that was)?

would they have had their ranks sewn on to their pogoni?

Cheers Andy

I met some yank sailors on exercise years ago and they were all stick thin with 70's porn moustaches. Must be the diet.

I hope so I've ordered one on based on the fact they are the old pattern with buttoned cuffs and therefore match the GPW versions.

But then, I seem to make a lot of mistakes.

I think I've found a source for soviet marine gear, if you're willing to buy a weenie bit more and throw away the beret.
not sure if it's entirely kushty though
your thoughts?
Also, if it's acceptable could I buy this kit plus some bits and bobs to make it period and join as a soviet marine long term?

This is very different naval uniform I have used to see in mine childhood on TV about WW2 period or in any pictures. I think it is too new. And the colour... ???

Crikey ,I agree Martin; that uniform looks more like the ones in our cold war recognition-photos on ships like Sverdlovsk or Kiev.
Lovely stuff,but too recent.
