I must concede with respect that this is all true Tovarich Kapitan.
Sadly I can see that I will only be able to demonstrate with a Fashist Panzer !
I chose the T34 because I knew I could trust the dedication and skill of its driver.
AS far as I know the procedure will not work whilst facing forwards with the tank behind and runs the risk of severe back-ache !
I have no desire to invite the interest of the NKVD due to a self-inflicted wound !

Yes Comrade, don't try this or your family will all have to be shot for the crime of aiding and abetting a criminal who clogged the track linkage of the People's tank armies

Maybe I could simulate it by using Tank and Walter...?
....... holding (between them) a broom handle at waist height ,........and walking ....slowly...inexorably....toward me (but passing either side of me!).
I would still be using a Tank and it would not be constrewed as defeatist!
To make it realistic somebody could sit on Walters shoulders and command the combination.
Like you say Simon we have to pay respect to H & S so they would have to wear a helmet.
It would be safe as long as they didn`t giggle and fall over!

2nd Guards Rifle Division
Sounds good Tank but unfortunatly for you we don't drink alcohol during the event your'll have to make do with tea or coffee!
I will be looking for tank riders, sub-machine gunners and a maxim crew but am wondering who and how many unit members will be supporting the 2nd Guards at their first public show of 2008.
Preference goes to members who regularly support the unit.

Comrade Kapitan- if you need someone to leap off a tank & blaze away with a ppsh- count me in. Wild horses (even German ones) coulndt keep me away.

After Ft Nelson last year, Ray knows that he will only get a PPSh41 off me when he prises it from my cold dead fingers
Cheers, Ade.

Hey Andrei- I've never seen a tank rider use a maxim before- should be interesting, especially when you jump off carrying it

This is where I joined this year and I wil be there next year
T34 (with or without attached Bobhr) sounds great.
Hopefully I will have my FAC back from variation by then! They've had it since June 25th and still not returned to me yet

It takes a lot of courage not quite as much as Bob and his reverse tank riding but still quite a lot

2nd Guards Rifle Division
I'm still awaiting for a final confirmation from Neil our T34 tank owner about attending Fort Nelson after another text to him today.
He confirms the T34 is available for Military Odyssey!
Tank riding is not for wallies, we will go through some practise first as safety is our number one concern.
Myself and a very few unit members have experienced riding on a T34/85 travelling at full speed over rough and bumpy ground and to top it all someone had forgotten to lock the turret so it moved around all 5 plus tonnes of it before someone locked it just as the tank took a sharp turn right!

OOh nasty,
tracks don`t take prisoners .............and don`t differentiate .........between friend or foe !.....
Semyon.... I hope that I will be able to enjoy another year with you as a comrade and a friend?
I have really learned a lot this year .. I many different subjects....lets look forward to 2008.
Have you chased that FAC ? It seems a long time to wait regardless of which division is dealing with it?
I am still looking forward to making that trip to Ryton arms with you.

2nd Guards Rifle Division
FORT NELSON 23/24th MARCH 2008
I can now confirm that Neil and his T34 will be at this event. Have spoken to Mark the show Organiser/Manager about the following:
1. An area beyond the tunnel to made to look like a large Russian trench, which we will man and give 'talks' to the members of the public who will be directed to our area. We can dress it up a bit with camo nets, maxim, DP machine guns and make it 'living history' as we can including having hot food brought to the troops etc.
2. The weapon display as normal but after that the Red Army enter the arena on a T34 with troops aboard who bebuss in the face of the enemy who are armed with a mortar who in turn, take out the tank but the Red Army troops deploy as we have been trained to and take out the fascists!
The troops will be armed with rifles but some will have sub-machineguns as I have negociated 3 to 4 PPSh-41/PPS-43 for the use in this display, and this is on top of our fee!
