Hi Sam, I don't see any Ssh36 in this thread? Have you been looking at pics of Comrade Viktor elsewhere?

But I got mine via Tony Oliver, out of Finland many years ago. Cost £80.

There is currently one on WAF, listed only today at $800. (£400) Liner is a replacement.

Cheers, Ade.

From me!

I bought if off eBay, from a guy who did RAF reenactment and had a basic inability to estimate Soviet helmet size. I think he said he got it from a street market in St. Petersburg?

Cor! They must be having a Turkish if they think anyone would pay that!

Nyet, no way, even if I won the lottery, would I hand over £400 for a helmet.

Comrades,

Here's the Ssh 36 Steel Head Protective Complex.. ( Painted with Chalk and Water paste, due to local Conditions at time of Imaging for Moscow Centre's Records of Scale of Issue and Combat Readiness Review of this Command during The Winter 07/08 Offensive.)

Image

Image

The Re-pro Liner and Chin Strap was not to the Norm, remade the Liner to the Correct Pattern, fitted a replacement 1940 Pattern Chin Strap from WPFG Centres War Store "Emil".

The use of Inferior Trophy items was permitted by Moscow Centre due to unlawful Gitlerite Wrecking of State Property, being replaced by their Inferior items... until they can be resupplied, due to the Advantages of a Centrally Controlled, Command system of People's Govenment....

Image
Trophy Tent Poles and Pegs, Trophy Butter Dish, Trophy Pullover and thick Socks no longer need by the passed owners....( Wash Kit, Boot cleaning Kit, Towels, Housewiff, Underwear pack) several empty Food Sacks.

Image
Plash line, ( 4 metres long)and loops for Pegs/Sticks

Image
Red Army Housewiff..( Everyday Rifles Shoulder straps) Collar Liner material, repair off cuts, and bits picked up...

Image
Black and White thread.

Image
Respirator Haversack, sans Respirator (held in Stores/Company Baggage), Trophy Field Dressing, a Bandage, Trophy Binoculars, Trophy Illumination Complex and Dry cell, Food Bags, , Brew Kit, String for attaching Local Flora, to to improve Personal Camouflage, and a 20mm Cannon Cartridge made into a Trench Lamp.... Not shown Weapon System cleaning Complex and sack for loose Rounds to suit issued Weapon System.

Image
Brew Kit ...Tea

Image
The only things you should have in your Pockets..

Image
Stuff for Pockets you tend to have for real.... :?

Image
A "Finka" found in a ruined building, turned into a Cutting and Carving Blade, in a Field made Leather sheath cut from a Fascist Tankest Drivers Seat... he no longer need a place to sit...

Comrade,
Fit a wick into it, String, Blanket , piece of SS Uniform( have plenty of cloth in it to soak up the Spirit.. Crimp the mouth closed, but so you can pull the wick up or down into it, drill a hole into the Cartridge, near the top as a fitting hole... A Cartridge of a fascist Weapon System is best as it will not effect State recycling and material Norms... Store in a Rag, so you don't cover everything in fuel .

:D

And the correct fuel to use in one of these lamps is (and dont try this at home without carefull testing first!!!) petrol. But you dissolve table salt in it first- which reduces the flash point & flammability to an almost safe level (by Soviet standards). Best of luck, and the careful testing at home will have to include a very long taper to light your initial mixtures. My first one was still lively  . I'll try again when the scorch marks have healed.

Hi Comrades, I have one of these WW2 trench lamps, had it sent over from St. Petersberg. Haven't tested the H&S aspects of it yet, looks like it might have the potential of the  Molotov!
