Hi Guys, as you will have seen of late there are now adverts appearing on the forum. We have done well up until now to avoid these. Afterall the forum is entirely free both to set up and use.

Now today I noticed on icon at the bottom of the page entitled "Community Chest". I clicked on this out of curiosity as I had not put it there?

It appears to be a way to donate money to the site. I am not asking for money or do we need anyone to donate. I don't even see where any donated money would actually go? They certainly don't have my bank details.

So no need to do anything.

Been to the forum admin site and found this message:

We're always looking for ways to bring premium upgrades to our customers without making them front the money themselves. That was the thinking behind our new Community Chest. The Community Chest is a place where forum members can go to donate towards that forum. 80% of the money donated to your forum will be added to your Community Chest. The remaining 20% goes towards covering the expenses involved (ie. payment processing and development). Money donated can be used for all available upgrades (ad-removal, copyright-removal, attach space, domain names, etc) with the exception of advanced hosting. You can config your Community Chest's message and purchase upgrades from the "Community Chest" link in your admin panel.

We hope this enables your members to directly support your community and allow you to purchase additional upgrades for them. This has been enabled on all forums' footers by default and can also be accessed at yourforum.freeforums.org/chest.php.

So get emailing, posting, PMing, whatever it takes to rally your members!
