Rumanian Info and gear

Postby Samuel Amer on Mon Mar 31, 2008 9:58 pm

Hi yall,

Does anyone hear know much about the rumanian army in the GPW or know where you can get some rumanian gear( or west german woll uniforms, they can simply be converted by cutting off the bottom pockets)

This is a big job, I'll have to get my facts together. For a start, though, Schipperfabrik make a Romanian uniform, they haven't got around to advertising it yet. I seem to remember the cost is $400 for tunic, cap and trousers.
The helmet is either Dutch or postwar Romanian, either way it isn't massively expensive.

It seems to me that post war German stuff is nothing like Rumanian. The colour being brown for a start?

I can't remember the Bundeswehr ever wearing brown. Do you have a picture of an example?

no memories of brown

Postby Bobhr on Tue Apr 01, 2008 11:25 pm

I certainly can`t remember ever seeing Bundeswehr soldiers of any regiment or Korps wearing bown (and we worked closely with them).

It was always green, grey or like the modern Flektarn.

The parade dress tunic is always light-grey.

Sam- when you get your Rumanian gear together could we film you and your being squashed by Neil's T34?

By George, it is too! And it looks suitably Romanian as well. I wonder when that dates to? (Rhetorical question. Not in need of an answer).

Just looked at that image.

However, the colour to the pic is some what off. In real life, the colour of the wool is an odd mixture of green and brown fibres. Looks like a browner version of Feldgrau.

So it would not work for what you are after.

Cheers, Ade.

Not necessarily, Schipperfabrik do make Romanian kit, they just haven't got around to advertising it on their site yet. The guys from 9th ID have an alternative source for Romanian stuff anyway from a guy in Canada.
