Comrades,
This Commands Confidential Contact "Comrade STEN" of a Fraternal Progressive Forum has began this Historical Document's Translation..

We thank him for his Internationalist Spirit, let his selfless work be a beacon to us in our Struggle to Smash the Gitlerite...

Enjoy.. within the Strict Norms laid down by Moscow Centre....

(It has been Noted however there are illustrations missing from the Declassified Historical Document... this matter is under investigation.....)

B. Soldier's Equipment
1. Soldier's backpack (marching) equipment - rifleman.

Marching equipment (pic. 5-9) is divided to:
a) Full marching equipment, when soldier takes all his stuff, incl. backpack.
b) Assault equipment, backpack with full load is not taken.

pictures
5. Backpack
6. Equipment carried in backpack
7. Assault equipment
8. Full marching load. Frontal view.
9. Full marching load. Rear view.

Assembling and attaching of assault equipment.

Attach following items on your belt, in order, starting from free end of the belt:
1. On the left part of the belt:
a) left cartridge pouch simultaneously with left front end of the shoulder strap; the latter put between pouch attachment loops
b) bayonet scabbard - on it's own loop
c) grenade bag - with both loops
2. On the middle part of the belt - rear end of the shoulder strap, with one of the three loops (depending on your height)
3. On the right part of the belt:
a) canteen in cover, on loop
b) shovel in cover, with both loops
c) reserve and belt-carried cartridge pouches - simultaneously with right end of the shoulder strap in following order: right loop of reserve pouch, right loop of the belt-carried bag, left loop of reserve cartridge pouch, shoulder strap and left loop of belt-carried pouch.
As a result of such assembly belt-carried bag should be on front, reserve cartridge pouch - under belt-carried bag, a bit to the rear and shoulder strap in the middle of the belt-carried bag.
If reserve cartridge pouch, grenade bag and canteen cover are carried on separate shoulder straps, they should be attached under the belt in following order: grenade bag on right shoulder, hanging from left side, reserve cartridge pouch and canteen cover - on left shoulder, hanging from right side. Reserve cartridge pouch should be placed under belt-carried cartridge pouch a bit further to the rear, canteen - behind reserve cartridge pouch.
Adjust shoulder straps of the assault equipment basing on your height, so a junction between front and rear ends is situated in the middle of your back, between shoulder blades and both front ends are firmly laying on shoulders.
Regulate the length of the shoulder strap by moving buckles, so front ends are firmly laying on the shoulders and bearing load of waist belt with attached items.
Adjust belt length, so buckle is situated frontally in the middle of the body. Strain belt enough, so attached items (grenades, ammo, shovel etc.) do not weight down the belt (you should be able to put three fingers flatware under the belt, with some difficulty).

He is to continue this Heroic Works when his Tractor Production Quota allows, after his next shift period... :D

His services to Improving the Combat Readiness of the Glorious RKKA will not go unnoticed at Moscow Centre...A Positive Report as been filed with them..

Comrades,

This Commands Confidential Contact, Comrade STEN has added this to his already Quota Smashing support to the glorious RKKA Struggle to Contain and Throw back the Gitlerite War machine ...

:D

Here goes part two:

2. Backpack Complex
Backpack's description
Backpack has two narrow straps at the bottom, with two buckles each, for attaching tent and all-weather raincoat accessories. Also, special accessory is sewn there with hook for attaching backpack to the waist belt.
For attaching greatcoat roll backpack has 4 straps, one of them (long) serves for binding together ends of the roll when greatcoat roll is to be carried over shoulder.
Before packing prepare all items to be packed.
Backpack place on it's back with opening toward yourself and pack up:
a) In the inner pocket - change of underclothes, on the top of it - spare blanket, a pair of puttees and handkerchief.
All these items put evenly, so there is a soft layer between your back and any hard items in the main space of the backpack.
b) On the bottom of backpack place bag with food ration and salt.
c) On the right side - bag with repair inventory, inside it - cup with separately wrapped sugar and tea.
d) On the left side, next to the cup - cooking pot in cover, with bread ration inside. Cooking pot in backpack should always be in cover oк wrapped in paper.
e) On the top of a cup - folded blanket, along the side of a backpack - spoon.
Tighten packed backpack with strings and tie the ends, fasten flap with buckle.
f) In the right external pocket put toilet set in bag, in the left external pocket - rifle cleaning set in bag and fasten flaps with buckles.

To prevent fouling the backpack with gun oil, clean greaser carefully before putting it in the backpack and wrap it with rag or some tow.

Preparing and attaching the greatcoat roll.

Unfasten half-belt from the left button and place greatcoat face-down; pull sleeves apart; straighten out collar and pockets; upper part of the greatcoat fold to the lower part by the half-belt line; evenly fold both laps and sleeves; roll up lap to the upper side if the collar.
Folded greatcoat roll tightly, starting from the waist, straightening appearing folds, levelling ends and tightening it with your knees, to get a firm and tight roll as a result.
Prepared roll put U-shaped on the backpack, fold-down; level both ends; put backpack right side-down and fasten roll with backpack's greatcoat belt, then turn up backpack and repeat operation with other end of the roll.
Ends of a roll should be on level of backpack's bottom.

Attaching tent stakes and all-weather rainsuit.
Stakes and rainsuit are attached under backpack with two belts.
Tie together two half-stakes and two stakes with string and put them into the cover. Then fold rainsuit cloth in packet and put individual camo-netting inside.
Free up tent straps, bring each through belt loops on the stakes bag, then through belt loops on backpack and fasten with buckle. Second buckle use to attach folded rainsuit; straps ends pull through belt loops.
Attached stakes and rainsuit packet should not be adjacent to the body.

Attaching protective stockings.
Folded stockings put on top of greatcoat roll and attach with backpack's top straps simultaneously with greatcoat roll.

Attaching steel helmet.
Unfasten chin strap, one end pull through backpack frame, situated in the middle of upper side of the backpack between shoulder straps, tie the ends of a chin strap tightly, fix them with backpack flap's strap. Upper part of helmet should be covered with greatcoat roll.

Comrades, you will note the carriage of Early Gas Protective Scale of Issue Protective footwear covers...

Comrade,
It is a Re-pro Fascist Trophy item, a printed label for a New ( inferior Reactionary Imperialistic) Energy storage Complex, it allows the Trophy( Original) Inferior Gitlerite Battery powered portable Light emitting Complex to function as well as it could, in relation to the Blinding true emitted by Marxist Leninism as a beacon to light our path to Victory over Pit Viper Wrecker Oppression of the Peace loving People's of Mother Russia..

Does that Answer your question?....

Actually it does answer the question, and it takes me right back to my college days. (Angela Davis is still a professor there.)

Is the label available as a PDF somewhere? I have a strange fetish for the odd bit of captured kit.
