I've heard rumour of it, but never seen any evidence to support it - and thats both during the GPW and also throughout the Cold War period!

Page 144 - mobile front-line tea shops, 43 deployed by August 1943.

Were they amphibious? I can see them crossing en masse under fire across the Dnepr

The armoured assault version of the mobile tea-shop wasn't deployed until spring 1945, long after Dnepr crossing

I understand that airborne canteen & bar facilities were dropped in at key startegic locations during operation August Storm, to ensure that the rapidly advancing Soviet Heroes would be assured of a good glass of Narkom's and bowl of Shchi after a hard day of Jap bashing. Apparently Fraser has an original menu from one of these facilities.
I'm begining to think that this thread has run it's course, and degenerated into silliness. It's all Kozlov's fault.
