2nd Guards Rifle Division

Here are further detail as to the requirements from the film company:

For our Kursk requirements, we are going to be looking for a standard infantry man (who will probably end up in the studio in a Molotov cocktail
throwing pose) and a sapper (so if you don't have that in particular, an infantryman with a shovel and a bayonet will do).

For Stalingrad, we a re looking for an infantryman in winter gear as well as a sniper in camouflage with the rifle.

As for the series, it is a 6 part series for National Geographic focusing on
the great battles of the Second World War. Each episode will be a mix of
archive footage, graphs and moving maps, recreations, historians being
interviewed and a segment where we test out weapons, tanks, or rations on an empty field. For example, for Stalingrad we will take dress up two men, one in German winter gear and one in soviet winter gear and stick them in the back of a refrigerated van for 30 minutes. When they come out, after considerable cursing, we will see who is able to put a rifle back together fastest. This is intended to demonstrate the points we make about the discrepancies in clothing. We might need you for this segment as well, but for the moment it is not something to worry about.

We will try and get the dates to you as soon as possible, but remuneration
to the tune of what we discussed should not be a problem.

I still need more names for this photo session. I'm looking to negotiate £100 for the day plus some expenses. You must have the Obr35 gym though as Stalingrad victory was in February and Kursk July 1943 so winter and summer kit needed.

The film shoot clashes with the East of England show and therefore is cancelled as far as the unit is concerned.

I have asked the film company if they could have the photo session at the East of England show but haven't received an answer as of yet. I was hoping that the photo session would help to raise the profile of the unit.

ace idea Boss

Postby Bobhr on Mon May 26, 2008 10:28 pm

That would be an excellent solution because the Photo Studio would have the pick of those attending .
We could all bring as much equipment as possible and then mix and match to suit.
In a lot of respects it would be better for them than several people turning up on their doorstep with what they thought would be right for the shot.
At EofE the people chosen would have the choice of everything
I hope they agree.
and the light is better.Coupled with the atmosphereic dust as the fash march past .
I hope the photo studio appreciate what a wonderful opportunity this is. You can`t create it in a room.

its simple really

Postby Bobhr on Fri May 30, 2008 8:37 pm

Hi yes its logistics R us.

Jim lives 20 mins north of me and Nick lives 75 mins south; so Jim is bringing Nicks stuff to me (and hopefully Colins) and then

when Nick comes up here for me to take him and Tara on to East Of England then

I give them to him , while he and I escort Colins gems to Colin.

Should be straight forward, just add vodka !
Its all worth while just to see the grin on Colins face when he gets those cases.

PS and I am buying some blanks from Jim !
