Early Red Army Yoke.. Rezidency Build..Updates..

Postby People's Army on Tue Dec 11, 2007 12:34 am

Comrades,
Moscow Centre, permitted this Command to attempt a R and D project to develop a copy of the Early GPW/ War of Finnish Aggression, Red Army Issue Yoke for the Personal Equipment Complex suitable for 1935 Dress regulations, 1939-42, after which time these Complexes were no longer in the Historical Documentation.

The First Good Clue, from the rkka.ru site

Image

Then watching The World at War, Historical Document, The First Episode of interest to us, as it covers the GPW :P, you can see a DP 28 Gunner wearing one, use the freeze frame on your Image Technology Complex.

This is the product produced at this Rezidencies Research and Development Directorate..

Image

The Yoke is two MN Slings, you have to cut them down a bit,

Image

The bending of the webbing hurts!, I soaked the webbing, then started to stitch with Russian cotton and slowly bending both lengths to the correct angle, you will see it puckers and deforms of the angle is too fine or great, I used a NVA Yoke as a crib, it is a Y Strap Yoke which is stitched together at the Y rather than free floating on a Ring like the Inferior Gitlerite Complex, so its angles work.

Image

The down piece is an open loop.

Image

This is the yoke flipped over..

Image

This is how I joined the two MN Slings using Soviet materials and methods, supplied by the Slings themselves.

I have made one of them... that was enough... Period!

This has been a good informative thread.

I have always felt that the lack of Y straps was a drawback when wearing a fully loaded belt.

Would there be interest in getting sets of these made up? Not by Comrade Viktor as his fingers still hurt, but by getting them proffesionaly stitched say by a saddle maker or the like?

Cheers, Ade.

Comrades,
Please use this Command's Research and Development Bureau materials, the Image from the Site I posted in... Looking like a Soldier, Comrades.. would be of assistance, its details are clearer and better.

This Rezident of this Progressive People's Forum as been Ordered ( by Moscow Centre  ) to assist in line with being a Comrade.... :)

Urrah!!.

Comrades, remember they can only safely..( not to be Arrested by the KOMSTITICH Duty Car) be deployed with 35 Dress Regulation during the Period the Glorious RKKA was being Encircled and if not Breaking out then been destroyed piecemeal by the Gitlerite Vandal Horde in 41 and 42.

I have been in touch with Thomas from Ostfront about these today. He is still awaiting delivery and so he cannot as yet put a price on them as yet. He was a bit depressed as he says this project has been on going for about 2 years.

Cheers, Ade.
