excellent day saturday , the battle and follow up photo shoot seemed to go very well , even if the battle was delayed a number of times
andy and his maxim team worked very well ( but seemed very short on ammo )
the after event social with banya was ....... strange , to say the least , but i will not go into that at the moment .
the bbq was supplied by the unit funds and was great , nice bit of steak , burgers , kebabs , salad an so on .
only problem , some swine set a booby trap in the shape of a stuffed mushroom with fettered? cheese in olive oil, try it said ade , they are really nice ..... my god ! it was foul , i could not get rid of the taste , never again
as seems the custom in 2nd guards , we gathered a number of non unit members around the fire and large amount of falling down water
the drinking and conversations went on long into the night , the last person to turn in was les , who was going to bed at 4 o`clock in the morning , just as i was packing to leave ( a phone call from home meant i had to leave ) , it was lucky i had not been drinking (`makes a change` i hear you say )
well done to all who took part in this event , i hope sunday went well for you all .
im sure if the boss could have found his way to the event , he would have enjoyed it

It sounds like they all had an ace time Colin and I am glad it is not you and I that seem to lead pople astray..........it sems a they can do it all by themselves !!
Half of me wishes it had been there and the other half thinks "phew ! Safe " !!
I have made up for it by ordering lots of things from ebay, cleaning and playing with my guns and putting some tan polish on my belt!
I found an interesting website on ebay and will post it in a tick (after i have looked it up again !)
Glad to hear it was a sucessfu wekend and well one Andy with that maxim.

the Sellers Shop on ebay is :
"FELDPOST 14/45 MILITARY SHOP"
It is a mix of genuine and repro German and Russian kit plus some other stuff.
I bought a cut-throat shaver and a slavic cleaning kit (for cleaning gunz not slavs !) box. Also a repro stick grenade and some equipment straps
But there are spoons and bottles an medical bottle kits.
It comes frm Poland and a lot of it is from POWs or the battlefield.
I found it fascinting and would have bought twice as much had I nt already bought lots elsewhere over the weekend.

I must echo Colin's words- a cracking event, with the Guards working well against our favourite foes from GD. Highlights foor me were Golly & Simon's little drink on Friday night & the two trenches. The Sunday trench warefare went even better than Saturday, with the groups sniping at each other for over an our (I think) before the main event. The pyros were far more 'interesting' on day 2 as well. I must thank Nevsky section for working so hard- it waas a privalidge to lead them. See you all at the next one. Kolya.

Had great time, thank you Comrades. Best event the year for me - the bits I can remember anyway Trench attacks scenario was excellent especially Sunday, the 'coco kabanya', getting me guards badge while still 'affected' from night before. But no more ex-matelots after Golly in the unit pls otherwise I will need a new liver

what a fantastic weekend, apart from certain "experiences" in the banya it went well . the battle on sunday certainly went better than on saturday, being blown up and having rubble poured over me was great . i cant wait till the next event!

I have to admit that I have been looking at his e-bay shop for a while now, and my resolve gave way over the weekend, but only to a small amount to start with - he had a clip of 5 pre-war Polish bullets for sale, and that would do nicely for my Polish kit! However, he is on my favourite sellers list, and I keep a close eye on him as he does get some good stuff in! I will let you know how quick he is with postage, and what they are like when they arrive!

What a great finale to the public show season! Some great memories were made: the battles, the Banya and Colin with the mushroom
Thanks to everyone for all their efforts.
There are some brilliant pics of us on different websites.
Cheers, Ade & Lez.

I quite liked the 2nd Guards trench, and the "big battle" was quite something to see.
Mind, have to say in the Aftermath of Sunday's battle...
Well, it gave the term "Field of fire" a new meaning.

I have to agree with the comments so far.
I enjoyed the show tremendously a great way to end the public show season.
The trenches worked out better than I thought they would after we put some serious work into fine tuning them.
The battles were good fun but as Nick says Sundays was better with the sniping during the morning and then they attacked us.
One lucky GD bloke got more than he bargained for when he rugby tackled me in the trench we ended up wrestling on the back parapet. Then Brian joined in and we both were giving him a thrashing while his mates calmly walked past without coming to his rescue.
That showed what a game bunch they are in the GD and I look forward to working with them again.
The Banya once again proved to be an memorable experience not too gay at all but I think James and Sam may be scarred for life though.
All in all a great success oh and by the way does anyone know which display won the prize in the end?
Ta for now

2nd Guards Rifle Division
I have had an in depth convestation with the Stashiey Serzhant (Adrian)who was the commander for the weekend. He informs me that the event was very enjoyable with a turnout of over 20 unit members!
The battle and the trench system worked well with authentic scenario's. I would of loved of been apart of this event but 2007 has been a busy year for me and the first time in 10 years with the 2nd Guards Rifle Division I have missed events!
I'm pleased that everyone had a great time because that is what it is all about. Well done to everyone who attended this event..
